Today my friend sent me a note from Facebook about a restaurant owner who lost his home in the earthquake. But this person was still giving out food to the earthquake victims.
Yes, there are people who are giving whatever they can.
Here are some excerpts taken from the news and interviews:
A sports shop owner lost his home, and had his shop destroyed by the tsunami. He and his wife were in tears as they said, they cannot continue their business anymore with everything broken and muddy. But still whatever was saved, they put all the clothes and shoes out for everyone to choose from. Every item was donated to the victims of the earthquake in their town.
An old woman was rescued. She is 86. ” I am very thankful that I was saved. I cannot think of anything. “Not for a moment was I happy that I was saved because a lot of young people were not. I lost everything, and I just wish they saved the younger people.”
My husband told me this morning, “there is so much sadness going around my country.” I definitely agree.
But despite all that they have lost, it is so heartwarming to see that they still want to help the next person.
Each interview has a story. Videos of people looking for their love ones, or those telling their family that they are ok.
Most of them said “We lost our home, we have no where to go. We do not know our future but we are thankful that we are alive.”
“We lost everything, don’t worry we are ok” as they face the TV cameras hoping their family will hear their message.
A family of four, went back to their home, amidst all the debris, they started looking for things that they can keep and save. The two children smiled and brought their “baby photos” to their mama saying ” mama, look what we found.” The mother and father were just so happy to find some memorable photos. The mother said ” we lost our home, our car, and everything but we are happy to find bits and pieces of the memories we had in our home. Without these photos, am not sure I can create these images again in my mind. ”
A man working at nuclear plant, sent a message to his wife, ” I am going to the nuclear site.” The wife knows that this may be his last message but still replied ” Yes, go and save our nation.”
Japan, I pray for you. Each survivor, each rescue person has a story that touches our hearts.
I join the world in praying for everyone, and that someday your stories will make us smile.

This is so touching, Farah. I truly admire the Japanese people for their discipline, perseverance, and how they keep each other hopeful despite their current situation. These are the lessons that all the people in the world should learn. I know Japan will rise once again after these storms…I hope and pray that this will pass quickly.
Stay strong, Japan!
